Partnership with British Council in organizing "Future City Game" in Latvia

Lead partner: British Council in Latvia
Goal of the game: to generate new ideas on how to improve the quality of life either in a specific area within a city, the city as a whole, or in response to the common challenges facing cities around the world. It is a two-day event involving city inhabitants from diverse backgrounds, representing different disciplines and led by a trained games-master.
Project implementation period: May, 2010 - March, 2011
Creating a new tool for marketing and commercialization of Baltic IP potential
Lead partner: Baltic IP Ltd. The project has been initiated by a Scottish company Cormack Consultancy Baltic Ltd. in cooperation with Latvian NGO Knowledge and Innovation society.
Project goal: to foster commercialization of IP from Baltic universities and research institutes and increase the competitiveness of the international companies in the global market.
Project activities: the project will solve the following challenges for both research and private sector: 1) research organizations fail on commercializing IP because of weak recognition; 2) a single research organization cannot always create enough interest for international companies; 3) scientists are not always interested in contract research; 4) companies are looking for new tools to raise their competitiveness in the global market.
Project implementation: launch of the project is September 15 – 17, 2010 during the international conferenc “Baltic Dynamics 2010” in
"Youth contribution for development of knowledge economy in Kurzeme"
Lead partner: NGO Youth leaders’ coalition (YLC)
Project goal: to create new generation of young innovation professionals and involve them in development of innovation policy in regions to promote knowledge-based entrepreneurship in
"Training sessions and lobying activities for unemployed - campaign "You're the community!"
Lead partner: NGO "Nāc un dari!"
Project goal: to help unemployed people to identify their internal resources and use their potential for developing an innovative business idea and establish a start-up at his county area.
Project activities: 3 seminars organized (each 2-days long) in Liepāja, Rīga and Jēkabpils. The following business ideas where formulated within the training seminars:
Liepāja: Kids’ things keeper as Design object, Family time planner, Youth Center, Mobile ironing room, “Socks that never gets lost”.
Rīga: Weekend portal for people who like to travel, Auto office, Water pill, Vegetables’ keeper in the flat. Some of the participants used ZINIS methodology to elaborate new innovative business ideas and has already started to implement them.
Jēkabpils: Supply of commodities 24/7, Vacation program in country-side for corpulent people, Small-scale cogeneration power plants, Business development centre for idea holders.
Project implementation period: March - April, 2010
